AI Chat with any Website, PDF, or YouTube Video ​

Our AI Chat feature lets you have intelligent conversations with any website, PDF document, or YouTube video. Ask questions, get explanations, and dive deeper into any content using Chrome's built-in AI technology. All processing happens locally on your device with complete privacy.

First Time Setup

If you use our AI features for the first time, your browser will download the AI model. This may take 5-30 minutes depending on your internet connection. Keep your browser open during the download. Sometimes, a browser restart is required after download. Monitor your download progress at: chrome://on-device-internals/ → "Model Status"

How It Works ​

Our AI Chat feature uses Chrome's built-in Prompt API to process your content locally on your device. Here's what happens:

  1. Local AI Processing - All AI conversations happen on your computer, not on remote servers
  2. Smart Content Analysis - The AI analyzes your bookmarks, highlights, and webpage content to understand context
  3. Real-time Conversations - Chat responses are generated as you type, with streaming updates
  4. Context-Aware Responses - The AI understands the specific content you're discussing

How to Use ​

  1. Open the sidebar on any webpage, PDF, or YouTube video
  2. Click the "AI Chat" button (only visible if your browser meets the requirements)
  3. Start chatting - Ask questions about the content, get explanations, or dive deeper into topics
  4. Continue the conversation - Each chat session remembers your conversation history

What You Can Chat With ​

Websites & Web Pages ​

  • Full website content - Ask questions about entire articles, blog posts, or web pages
  • Specific highlights - Chat about particular sections you've highlighted
  • Context-aware responses - The AI understands both your highlights and the full page content

PDF Documents ​

  • PDF content analysis - Open PDF with our extension and chat with it
  • Document-specific questions - Ask about specific sections, concepts, or details
  • Cross-reference information - Compare information across different parts of the document

YouTube Videos ​

  • Video transcript analysis - Chat about YouTube video content using transcripts
  • Video-specific discussions - Ask questions about what was said, key points, or explanations

  • Model Download: The first time you use AI Chat, Chrome downloads a large AI model (several GB) to your device
  • Download Time: This can take 5-30 minutes depending on your internet speed
  • Storage Space: The model requires significant storage but enables offline AI processing
  • Performance: Once downloaded, conversations generate quickly without internet delays

Conversation Management ​

Starting a New Chat ​

  • Each website, PDF, or YouTube video can have its own chat conversation
  • Chats are automatically saved and persist between browser sessions
