How to Install an Extension from a Local File in Brave

This guide will show you how to install an extension from a local file (such as .zip, .crx, or .xpi) in Brave.

  1. Download the extension file as a .zip archive.
  2. Unzip the file to a folder on your computer.
  3. Open chrome://extensions in the address bar.
  4. Enable Developer mode (top right).
  5. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped extension folder.
  6. Confirm installation if prompted.
Note: Chrome and Brave no longer allow direct installation of .crx files for most users. Always use the unzipped folder with "Load unpacked".

Tip: Always be careful when installing extensions from outside the official store. Only use files from trusted sources.
